Barbara Jean Trubey Jackson, born on December 17th, 1948, to parents Mary Sybil and Daniel Trubey, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on February 1st, 2023 at the age of 74.
Barbara loved her hometown of Eatonton, Ga. She graduated from Putnam County Highschool in May of 1966. She worked with the people of Eatonton for over thirty years and she retired in December of 2014 as the Assistant City Clerk of the City of Eatonton. During her time there, she became a staple in the community, always offering a warm smile and a helping hand.
On a personal note, Barbara was known for her love of flowers. With an uncanny ability to grow most anything, her flower gardens were the envy of all who stopped by. She was an avid lover of the outdoors whether it be a "beautiful day that will never come again", a clear starry night or a brisk stroll through her favorite spots, Barbara was usually seen outdoors. She was also known for her talent in the kitchen. She added a special touch to anything she prepared and she was widely known for her willingness to serve a hot plate of food to anyone who came by.
Barbara was a wonderful wife to her husband; Carl Jackson and they were rarely seen apart. From their early adventures at the farm to their local trips at their favorite restaurants, they loved to be together. They especially enjoyed returning each year to the sight of their wedding and one of her favorite places, St. George Island.
As a mother, Barbara loved her children often affectionately referring to each in her own special way. Until her last moments, she greeted each of them with love and true joy. She filled each of them with love, God's Word, and Steadfast Hope. She was affectionately named, Maz, by her oldest granddaughter, Sarah Reese Martin. It was a name that would carry onto all of her grandchildren. Maz, or at times, Mazie, was all things a grandmother should be. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, openly and freely.
Above all, Barbara was an avid follower of Christ and could always be seen with her trusted, well-worn, Bible. She reminded all who knew her that all things work together for good and that the only way to find peace was through Jesus Christ. She was a strong believer in the power of prayer and she lived to see many of those prayers answered.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Sybil and Daniel Floyd Trubey, Sr. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Eugene Trubey, Sr. Her husband Carl Jackson, and her four children, Amelia Reese, Newton Hooks married to Shannon Hooks, Christy Hooks Salas, married to Jahdiel Salas, and Toni Jackson Martin married to Troy Martin. She also leaves behind, her grandchildren, Sarah Reese Martin, Timothy Reese, Brandilyn Garner, Tristin Garner, Greyson Hooks, Emily Bishop, Meri "Gracie" Waldroup, Jacob Salas, Lucas Salas, Isaac Salas, and Tanner Martin and her great-grandchildren, Sydney Martin, Sophie Martin, and Samuel Martin, her nephew Ret Trubey and her beloved sister-in-law, Ava Nell Trubey. Her cousins, other family members, and dear friends will always hold a special place.
