Barbara Veronica Grodek was born on Thursday, March 28th, 1946 in Berwyn, Illinois, unto the union of the late Aloysius F. and Elsie B. Horky Grodek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Vlk.
She leaves behind her precious family: Daughter, Jennifer Leigh Vlk; Son, Michael Adam Vlk; Grandchildren, Zoe Valalia Vlk, Ian Ricardo Vlk, and Trevor Robert Vlk; and beloved pet Parakeet, Alfredo.
Barbara was a devoted Catholic and former Librarian, living a life rich in faith and books. A quilter by heart, she loved purchasing new fabrics and enjoyed the company of those who were quilters as well. Flowers brought her joy as did gardening, which became one of her greatest passions in life. She loved to shop for quirky clothing, sparkly jewelry and of course… anything orange! Barbara sparkled until the very end and will be missed by those whom she cherished.

I meet Barbara at the senior center in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, and we became very close friends and we spent many many days quilting making jewelry and going to bingo. I will surely miss my beloved friend. She taught me how to quilt she helped me with my grandbabies quilts and so many other things, she was a great person she even taught me how to play Mexican trains and have a great time. You will be miss my friend. Hope to see you one day in heaven I´ll be praying for your family that each day will be easier for them. They will miss you too. I know that you have a beautiful family that really cared for you and loved you so much. Maybe meet up in heaven one day take care, my friend.
