Barbara Jean Wallace

Barbara Jean, daughter of Jack and Edna (Peterson) Bartram, was born May 22, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, where she has been a lifelong resident. After graduating from high school, she attended beauty school, then college. Barbara ended up working as a dietician at Mercy Medical Center for 48 years, before retiring in 2023.

Barbara was dedicated to her family and would do anything for them. She was a good cook and prepared delicious meals for family gatherings. She liked to spoil her grandkids and take them on shopping trips. Barbara was a true giver and experienced joy from giving to others.

Barbara died January 31, 2026, at Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation in Norwalk. She was 75. She is survived by her children: RJ (Jennifer) Wallace of Des Moines, Robert Wallace of Des Moines, Shauna (Nick) Rundlett of Altoona, and Melissa (Robert) Chapman of Altoona; and her grandchildren: Jordan Wallace, Gino Wallace, Preston Wallace, Nicholas Wallace, Robby Wallace, Elizabeth Wallace, Serenity Baker, Ryan Baker, Jonathan Baker, John Chapman, and Alex Chapman. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Edna Bartram.
