Barbara Walrath Obituary
Mrs. Walrath was born on May 14, 1955 in the Town of Newport, a daughter of the late Glenn and BettyJane (Stewart) Broadbent. She graduated from West Canada Valley Central School. On March 9, 1974, Barbara was united in marriage with Harold M. Walrath Jr. at Newport United Methodist Church. Harold preceded her in death on December 5, 2021. Barbara enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and watching the hummingbirds with Harold.
Survivors include three children, Susan (Aaron) Walrath-Pope of Cold Brook, Betty (Charles) Willett-McLaughlin and Harold (Amanda) Walrath III, all of Little Falls; four brothers, Frank (Heidi) Broadbent of Newport, Joseph (Susan) Broadbent and John Broadbent all of Newport, VT; and Paul (Sojna) Broadbent of Newport; two sisters, Kathleen (Fred) Lowell of Norfolk, VA, and Pauline (Lorn) Crossett of Newport; 13 grandchildren, Tyler, A.J. (Kara), Chloe (Max), Alexa, Maddy (Brandon), Ariel "Margaret", Emily, Hunter, Colton, Josiah "Si", Hope, Liam and Amelia; special friends, Stephanie and Matt Beech and Joe M.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Harold, Barbara was predeceased by a brother Glenn Broadbent; a sister, BettyJane Broadbent; and a son-in-law, Jodi Willett.
Funeral services will be held at the Autenrith Funeral Home, 7479 Main Street, Newport, on Thursday, June 19 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Newport Cemetery. A calling hour will take place prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
