Clarence E. Caldwell

TOWN OF SCHUYLER – Clarence H. "Clancy" Caldwell, 95, of Brown Road, passed away on November 8, 2025, at his home.
Mr. Caldwell was born on December 6, 1929, in the Town of Schuyler, a son of the late Maynard and Edna (Bradbury) Caldwell. He received his education from local country schools and attended Frankfort-Schuyler High School. On June 7, 1952, Clarence was united in marriage with the former Rose Marie VanPelt at Herkimer United Methodist Church. At a young age he worked at the Schuyler service station on the NYS Thruway assisting with service calls and pumping gas. He was last employed at MDS, Herkimer where he worked in maintenance.
Mr. Caldwell enjoyed riding his motorcycle, snowmobile, three-wheeler and watching NASCAR. He loved animals, feeding the birds and squirrels, and built many bluebird houses for his friends and family. He was also known for his water witching skills helping many people find water on their land for no charge.
Survivors besides his wife of 73 years, Rose Marie include many nieces, nephews and cousins. Clarence was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Beck and Dorothy Ward; and four brothers, George, Maynard, Richard and Kenneth Caldwell.
There will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport.
