MIDDLEVILLE – Richard P. Mueller, 75, of Huyck Ave., passed away on December 4, 2025, at home with his family by his side.
Mr. Mueller was born on February 7, 1950, in Bamberg, Germany, a son of the late Walter and Margot (Uske) Mueller. The family immigrated to the United States in 1963 and he continued his education at Herkimer High School until his sophomore year. They moved to Middleville in 1966, and Richard graduated from West Canada Valley Central School in 1968. He began his working career at Valley Chuck and Tool in Frankfort. He became a U.S. citizen in 1969 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served with the 199th Infantry Brigade and 25th Infantry Division as an artillery crewman in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971 at the rank of Sergeant and a Bronze Star Medal recipient. Richard was united in marriage with the former Bonnie S. Munger of Port Leyden in 1972. He served in the National Guard Company D-42nd Maintenance Battalion at the Utica Armory for 10 years while working at Mohawk Data Sciences and lastly Ferner Precision as a machinist, toolmaker and tool crib manager.
Richard was a member of the E.W. Corey Hose Company since 1968, he served as assistant chief, secretary and treasurer. He was also a member of the Herkimer County Fire Police Association, and lifetime member of the American Legion and DAV.
Survivors besides his wife of 53 years, Bonnie, include a son, David (Jennifer) Mueller of Fairfield; two brothers, Alfred (Sandra) Mueller of Purcellville, VA, and Ralph (Katherine) Mueller of Herkimer; three grandchildren, Gregory, Kimberlee and Ethan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Margot Mueller.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ann Lindsay, Hospice and Palliative Care, and the Middleville Fire Department.
A graveside service will take place at Middleville Rural Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Middleville Volunteer Fire Department, 41 North Main Street, Newport, NY 13416..
