Mary A. Young

Mrs. Mary A. Young, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at Wynn Hospital, with her loving family by her side.

Mary was born on September 15, 1936, in Utica, NY, a daughter of the late Jack H. and Anna (Wall) Bell. She graduated from Poland Central School with the Class of 1954. On February 11, 1956, she was united in marriage with William Young at St. John's Church in Newport. Together they raised five children, and they were also lucky enough to be a part of the lives of their grandchildren. Mary was the heart and soul of the family, the glue that held it together. She was a fierce protector, a source of wisdom, and the ultimate cheerleader for her family. Anyone who knew Mary knew of her strength and resilience through the adversities in her lifetime. She was the best listener without passing judgement, and she was always a voice of reason. Her daily check-ins with her children to ask about how everyone was doing was something she loved. Additionally, she enjoyed traveling when opportunities arose, and was an avid reader. Mary worked for many years at Oneida National Bank in Poland, where she knew all of the customers by name and greeted them with a smile and genuine conversation.

Mary's survivors include her four children, Cathy Young and William Young, Jr. of Prospect, Mary Susan (Jeff) Fuller and Cheryl (Frank) Gorinshek, of Newport; a son-in-law, Don Denapole; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Russell, Tania, D.J., Klinton, Stephanie, Megan, Jacob, Abbey, Erin, and Katie; several great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother, Pat Bell; one sister, Carol (John) Spisak; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Denapole, her siblings, Jack P. (Dorothy) Bell and Robert (Kay) Bell, and sister-in-law, Rosemary Bell.

A private funeral service for family members will be held in honor of Mary. There are no public calling hours. Spring interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery.
