Obituary of Barbara A. Walsh
Barbara Walsh, a devoted wife, mother and homemaker passed away peacefully at Sunrise of Burlington with her family by her bedside on August 3rd, 2025. She was 83 years old. She grew up in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Gladys Saraco. During her high school years, she was a proud member of the Immaculate Conception Drum and Bugle Corps. She met Bobby Walsh, the love of her life at a young age. They were married in 1960 and had a loving, beautiful marriage up until Bobby's passing in 2023.
Barbara and Bobby shared 63 years of love, fun, and adventures. They took several cruises with friends and many road trips together. Any hobby Bobby would pick up; he would talk Barbara into trying. She was such a good sport he once got her to go hunting with him! They had several boats over the years and enjoyed cruising and fishing together.
Barbara was an amazing and supportive mother to her five children throughout her life. Her home was always a place for family and friends to gather. Her backyard was the neighborhood playground. The kids were always welcome to take a swim, or join in a game of water volleyball. There was kickball and baseball games in the summer and sledding in the winter. Even long after her children were married and not living at home, the friends of her children would still stop in for a visit. No matter what time of day you drove by her home on Muller Road, there would be someone visiting. Barbara was a wonderful listener; she would stop whatever she was doing to listen and offer advice if you needed it. Her home was her castle and it was immaculate at all times. Barbara was an avid gardener. People driving by would stop in front of her home just to admire her beautiful flowers.
When Barbara's children were all in school, she started taking skating lessons at the Burlington Ice Palace. Skating became a hobby that she enjoyed and excelled at for many years. She was a member of the Skating Club of Boston. She competed in Ice Dancing and won many medals with her skating partner and her precision dance team.
She was the "hostess with the mostest"! Barbara turned her home into a banquet hall on the holidays. There was always an extra seat for anybody that showed up at the door and more food than her family could possibly eat. Except for her meatballs, they were legendary! There were never any leftovers of those.
What was most important to Barbara was her family. She was the proud grandmother of seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She and Bobby owned a second home in Sutton, New Hampshire. Another home that she made cozy and welcoming. There were many memories made here, the family would spend a day on the lake and then head back to the house for a cookout with lots of stories and laughs. She always looked forward to spending time with family, and being with the people she loved most. Barbara will be lovingly remembered for the unconditional love she gave to her family.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Robert Walsh, Jr. She was the loving mother of Michael Walsh of Burlington, Steven Walsh & his wife Debbie of Burlington, Debbie Kirkwood and her husband Alan of Falmouth, Suzan Kichton and her husband Mark of Burlington, and Robert Walsh and his wife Kerry of Woburn. She was the sister of William Saraco of Woburn and Linda Saraco of Groton. Her brothers Mike Saraco and Andrew Saraco predeceased her. She was the proud grandmother of Shane, Dennis, Steven, James, Sara, and Shannon Walsh, Brian Kichton, John and Robert McNally, Katie and Kacie Graham, Jessica Shea, Amanda Demers, Amy Edson, the late Shawn Kichton, Michael Walsh Jr., and Jenna Walsh. Barbara is also survived by her great- grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
