Barbara Lee Weinberg

Barbara Lee (Appleman) Weinberg, 84 of Bloomington Indiana passed away on September 1st, 2025, at Gentry Park Apts. Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 5th, 1941, Barbara, also known as Bobbie, attended St. Lawrence University, Russell Sage College, National College, and Rutgers University. She received her bachelor's degree from National College and her Masters degree from Rutgers University. Barbara spent time working as a second grade teacher, as assistant director of the chamber of commerce, rental director of a motel, and was known for her intelligence, kindness, and sense of humor. Barbara volunteered at the local Meals on Wheels chapter, the Red Cross, and worked at the Bloomington Thrift Shop. She enjoyed reading a good book, cooking her specialty– red spaghetti sauce and veal parmigiana–and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Barbara is survived by her loving spouse Martin, two children, Ellana (Weinberg) Bessen and Marion (Weinberg) Bowen, 6 grandchildren, Caitlin, Charles, Julia, Lilly, Reilly, and Jonathan, sister, Marjorie (Appleman) Lyles, niece Jessica, and nephews Martin, Steven, Gregg, and Brent. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy (Appleman) Schneider. Barbara will always be remembered for her kindness to others, and laughter which filled every room. She was a gift to everyone who knew her. We wish to thank the staff at Hospice House and Gentry Park for their care, and to her friends and relatives for their love. Donations in Barbara's honor can be made to the American Cancer Society. A graveside service is taking place Monday, September 15th at 3pm at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
