It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Barbara J. Wessel, known to many as Barb, who left us on July 10, 2025, in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the age of 76. She passed peacefully in her sleep.
Born on February 26, 1949, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Barb's vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew her. A graduate of Boca Ciega High School in 1967, Barb embraced her career in the hospitality industry. She was a smiling face at beach hotels and Lindo's rental car company, and also served as a passenger service agent for several airlines including Northeastern, Florida Express, and Braniff. Later on, she found joy as a Teacher's Aid, nurturing the next generation while sharing her unique sense of humor.
Barb was a fun-loving person who brought laughter into the lives of her friends and family. She loved to go out, and sing karaoke with her co-workers, creating memories filled with laughter. Barbara leaves behind her beloved spouse, Phil Wessel, her daughter, Tricia Duffy DeCesare, and her cherished grandchildren, Dominic and Katarina DeCesare. Barb will be remembered for her infectious laugh, and the countless lives she brightened. She may have left this world too soon, but her spirit will linger in the hearts of those she touched.
The family has decided to have a small private service when Barb is interred beside her parents at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
