Barbara Dean Sheffield Wicks

Barbara Sheffield Wicks, 83, of Dinwiddie County, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Born April 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Leo Benjamin and Gladys Mae Sheffield. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, John Preston Wicks. She is survived by her children Susan Kimberly “Kim” Wicks of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Thomas W. Tatum and wife, Inez of Richmond, Virginia, Robert J. Tatum and wife, Marissa of Arlington, Virginia, and Mary Elizabeth “Lisa” Nicholas and husband, Gary of Hampton, Virginia; seven grandchildren, John Z. Lukomski, IV and wife, Amy, Siena Grace Peterson and husband, Lars, Daria Elizabeth Tatum, Matthew Koprovic and husband, Logan, Paul Tatum, and Brittany Tatum; three great-grandchildren, John Z. Lukomski, V, Kody R. Lukomski, and Mia I. Lukomski. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Colonial Heights location of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory.
