Mrs. Barbara Cook Wiggins, age 96 of Sandersville passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Heritage Inn in Sandersville. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of May and Smith Funeral Home with burial following in Jackson’s Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Mike Jones will officiate, and pallbearers will be George Wiggins, Mark McGraw, Bill Wiggins, Bobby Freeman, Justin Hancock, and Daniel Toney. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wiggins was born in Santa Rosa, California, the daughter of the late Lauren Cook and the late Hilda Schmelzer Cook. She worked for many years as the secretary at Jordan Tire and Auto, and later as the receptionist for Villa South Motor Lodge. Mrs. Wiggins was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time in her garden and cooking for her family. She was very talented at crocheting. She was a member of Jackson’s Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Wiggins and great grandson Mason Morris.
Mrs. Wiggins is survived by her children, Mike Wiggins of Sandersville, and Mary Ann Stephens of London, KY; grandchildren, Jennifer McGraw (Mark), Karen Parker, Kelli Harper, George Wiggins (Taylor), Robert Stephens, Sabrina Smith (Sebastian) and Ashley Malicoat (Preston); 16 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Donations may be made in Mrs. Wiggins memory to Jackson’s Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 10602 Old Savannah Road, Sandersville, GA 31082.
