Barbara Caroline (Miller) Wilkinson, 89, died January 27, under hospice care at her son Mark's home.
Barbara was a woman who cherished her family, her church, and the enjoyment of community and travel.
She was born June 20, 1933 on her family's homestead east of Cheyenne.
Barbara attended and graduated from school in Carpenter, Wyoming. Later she worked as a cook on the Diamond Ranch near McFadden where she met Jimmie D. Wilkinson. They were married August 15, 1953 in El Paso, Texas where Jimmie was stationed for boot camp during the Korean War.
The couple moved to Cheyenne after Jimmie D. was discharged from the military. Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for local businesses and later as a teller at the First National Bank.
In 1976 Barbara and Jim moved to Rock River where they owned and operated the Double Shot Bar. Barbara was very proud of her local church that she helped build and where she enjoyed many activities. Barbara was a painter and contributed some of her work to her church and other community members.
Barbara traveled to Mexico, Greece, Turkey, and many sites in the United States. She loved the history of different cultures and Biblical locations.
She is survived by her sons, James S. Wilkinson (Leona), Mark D. Wilkinson (Kim) of Cheyenne; sisters, Darlene Byers, Dorann Hall, and Colleen Johnson; brothers, Henry Miller and Milton Miller; six grandchildren, Bryce Wilkinson (Dana), Marcy Wilkinson (Bhaskar Narayan), Tracy Wilkinson, Chelsey Wood (Nick), Seth Wilkinson and Zachariah Wilkinson; three great-grandchildren, and many friends from her Rock River community.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie D. Wilkinson, toddler daughter, Sherry Lynn Wilkinson; and brother, Richard Miller.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 17th at 10:00 am in the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
