Barbara Jean Willliams, of Social Circle, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 87.
After graduating high school, Barbara briefly worked for a small radio station in Bainbridge, Georgia where a fellow employee introduced her to her future husband, Carroll Williams. They were married on December 16, 1956 and soon moved to Atlanta, Georgia. In 1962, she began her career with the United States Postal service. In 1976, she was sworn in as Postmaster of Social Circle, Georgia where she and Carroll made their home.
Barbara was a loving and caring woman who found joy in the simple things in life. She loved tending to her garden, surrounded by the beauty of her flowers, and enjoyed playing bingo with friends. A devoted caretaker, she spent her life giving selflessly to others and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her warmth, kindness, and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Williams; and parents, John Kelly and Ruby Kelly.
Survivors include her son, Shane Williams (Cheryl Brinkley); grandchildren, Steven Williams, Tommy Williams, Regina Williams, Gracie Williams, Reign Williams; great-grandchildren, Lena Williams, Clark Williams, Elizabeth Williams, Eric Williams, and Kallie Williams.
A Memorial for Mrs. Williams will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, one hour prior to her service from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M.
