Barbara Ann Arrowood Willis, 76, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 23, 2026 at UNC Health Blue Ridge.
She was born in McDowell County on May 25, 1949 to the late Murray Joseph Arrowood and Jacqulene Wilburn Arrowood.
Barbara worked in textiles for most of her life. A cherished member of Vein Mountain Baptist Church, Barbara loved serving and worshipping the Lord with her beloved church family. She was known as a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her cakes that were baked with love and eagerly shared with her family, friends, and church family. When her health allowed, Barbara tended to her garden and plants with great care. Her family meant the world to her, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ronald Willis, to whom she was married for 53 years, and one sister, Kathy Penland.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Melissa Ferguson (Roger, Jr.); two grandchildren, Ashley Lewis and Trey Ferguson; four great-grandchildren, Lily, Joseph, Sophie, and Cora; one sister, Polly Cable (Junior); and one brother, Joe Arrowood.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Vein Mountain Baptist Church. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Barry Gouge officiating. Following the service, Barbara will be laid to rest in the church cemetery beside her beloved Ronnie.
