Wilson - Barbara Ann Knope, aged 95, passed away on July 13th, 2025, in Central Florida. Respected for her independence, strength and intelligence, Barbara was loved throughout her life. She was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois, in 1930 to her loving parents Roy and Nell Knope. She dedicated herself first and foremost to her family and friends, followed by her Roman Catholic faith and her career as a dietician.

In 1960, Barbara moved to Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband, Sam Wilson. She made the fearless decision in 1968 to earn her undergraduate degree in Nutrition while raising three children and continued to get her registration in Dietetics at Spalding University.

Known for her ever-sharp mind and witty humor, Barbara read widely and enjoyed many passions including her Sunday crosswords, her Louisville Cardinals college basketball and football teams, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Whether it was knitting or baking (and teaching her grandkids to do both), Barbara showed her love through the things she created.

She adored her children, Scott Wilson (d. 2009), Jannelle Fuqua, and Julie de Vaulx. She was a loving grandmother to Robert and Scott Nutter; and her beloved granddaughters, Charlotte and Beatrice, to whom she was fondly known as Grandma Bubba. Barbara will be forever remembered as a soul who radiates warmth, loyalty, and joy to all those closest to her.

Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 30st, 2025 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Her funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 31st, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Albert the Great Church, 1395 Girard Drive, with burial to follow Mass at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Avenue.
