Barrett "Barry" Haynes Phillips Jr., 78, of Owensboro, passed away on October 2, 2023. Barrett was born in Owensboro on January 10, 1945, to the late Barrett Haynes Phillips Sr. and Mary Jane Pollock Phillips. Barry was a charter member of the Lewis Lane Baptist Church and was retired from Lee Brick and Block. He was a jack-of-all-trades, fixing cars, sprucing up homes, and making old furniture look new again. When he wasn't swinging a golf club, he was out fishing. Barry was the kind of guy who'd befriend you in an instant. Family was at the heart of Barry's world. Every decision he made, every sacrifice, and every gesture were rooted in his deep love and commitment to them. They, in turn, recognized his unwavering support and strength, consistently relying on him during tough times and celebrations alike. To them, Barry wasn't just a family member; he was their anchor, providing stability and guidance whenever it was needed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike and Bill Phillips.
Those left to remember Barry include his loving wife, Bonnie Philpot Phillips; children, Kendell Allgood (Bill), Meredith Chaffin (Wray), and Nate Phillips (Cory); grandchildren, Courtney Perez, Lauren Tong, Haley Tong, Tristan Phillips, Laken Phillips, Colton Chaffin (Sam) and Micaela Chaffin; great-grandchildren, Briley, Alanna, Mason, and Ezra; siblings, Miriam Peay (Mark), Melinda Phillips (Tom), and Mark Phillips (Carol); and cousin, Kathy Campbell (John).
A time to celebrate Barry's life will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. A committal service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
