Barron Chenevert Obituary
Visitation for Barron Paul Chenevert of Mansura will begin at 2:00pm until 4:00pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Escude Funeral Home in Cottonport. Graveside and military honors will begin at 11:00am, Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville.
Barron Paul Chenevert, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at his home in Mansura.
Barron served as Staff Sergeant in the US Army and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for exceptionally meritorious service from Sept. 17, 1979 to June 24, 1986, while assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 5th Cavalry and the 214th Attack Helicopter Battalion. His performance as an aircraft maintenance supervisor was instrumental to the excellent aircraft readiness posture achieved by his units. His devotion to duty and knowledge of the many facets of aircraft maintenance enabled him to support demanding tactical exercises.
Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Gerald (Faye) Chenevert of Cottonport; niece, Kimberly (Chad) Bordelon of Alexandria; great-nephew, Peyton Bordelon of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hudson Joseph Chenevert and Lillian Theresa Gagnard Chenevert.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Escude Funeral Home (318-964-2324) 552 Front St. Cottonport, LA 71327.
