Barry Donaghey Obituary

Barry Warren Donaghey, 69, of Haughton, LA, passed away at home on January 18, 2023. Barry was born on March 27, 1953, to James Samuel Donaghey and Margaret Stark Donaghey in New Orleans, LA. Barry moved to New Iberia, LA in 1983 before he became a resident of Bossier City and finally settled in Haughton, LA. He attended Warren Easton High School in New Orleans where he graduated in 1971. While in high school, he played the role of Santa at school functions each year. Following high school, Barry joined the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and worked his way up before entering the oil and gas industry doing outside sales for Technical Compression Services. Eventually Barry joined M&J Valve in Minden, LA where he was promoted to branch manager before retiring in 2019. Barry will be remembered as a hard worker who appreciated a job well done. Barry was born and bred in the heart of Louisiana culture. He loved to cook and eat which included all the Cajun favorites. He was a lifelong supporter of the New Orleans Saints and loved the music of Wayne Toups. He enjoyed participating in Mardi Gras in New Orleans and New Iberia before he moved to Bossier Parish in 1992. Barry's sons will remember a father who molded men from boys. Barry taught his sons the honor of a strong work ethic and the value of good moral character. He was a model provider and cared enough to show tough love. Barry loved animals and enjoyed working in his yard. He showed his love by giving gifts which included feeding any animals - birds, squirrels, cats, etc. - that showed up. Barry met Kathy Trujillo in 2010 at First Bossier, and they married on October 18, 2014. Together they loved to travel and volunteer in the church to feed the homeless and shut-ins. Some of their best memories were spent with friends and family. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Donaghey. Barry is survived by his devoted wife Kathy; his son Warren Donaghey and wife Becky; son Justin Donaghey and wife Keri; step-son Michael Sanders and fiancé Angel; step-son Matthew Sanders and wife Taylor; grandchildren Cassie, Carter, Lucas, Jace, Lochlan, Connor, Aaron, and Kyndall; and brother Phillip Donaghey and wife Toni. Barry is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Honoring Barry as pallbearers will be Nick Schaefer, Warren Donaghey, Justin Donaghey, Matthew Sanders, Aaron Herrold, and Ian Porter. The family requested that any donations in his memory be made to the ASPCA or Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission. Condolences may be left for the family and the guestbook may be signed online at https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/barry-donaghey-obituary?id=38711013. February 3, 2023

May your memories give you peace and comfort of your loved one. Words fall short of expressing my sorrow for the loss of your loved one. May GOD be with you all during this difficult time. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we have faith that Jesus died and rose again, so too God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in death through Jesus.
