Barry E. Idler was born on January 13, 1946 in Lamar, CO to Quentin Eugene and Mary Jane (Richie) Idler. He was raised in Longmont, CO and graduated from Longmont High School in 1964. He briefly attended college before he was drafted to the United State Marine Corp to serve in Vietnam. He served two years and was honorably discharged in 1968.
In 1970 Barry married Renee Frohling and together they had two daughters. They lived in Longmont, CO. Barry worked for many years at the family drug story, Bi-Rite Drug, until they closed the doors in 1985. He then went on to manage the local Radio Shack until he developed non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma due to Agent Orange Exposure in Vietnam. Barry and Renee also created a craft business called Wood-N-Needle where they showcased their many talents. In 2003, Barry and Renee moved to South Dakota where they ultimately made their home in Aberdeen. Barry then went on to work at 3M in the tape department. He took great pride in his time at 3M and was fondly referred to as "Bronco Barry" for his love of the Denver Broncos. He retired in June 2018.
Barry enjoyed woodworking and loved playing, watching, and collecting all things golf. He restored his father's 1963 Cushman golf cart and always looked forward to taking it to the course. He really enjoyed being able to play on different courses during his travels. He shared his love and knowledge of golf with his two grandsons every chance he could. He was a collector of many things, including Coca-Cola and Denver Broncos memorabilia. He played the drums in high school and had joined a band after high school and then played for a Country Western Band until the mid-1980's. He enjoyed traveling and especially loved his trip to Hawaii. You could often find him wearing a Hawaiian Shirt. He was an avid picture taker and enjoyed capturing the outdoors. He spent the last two years rekindling his love for a girl he dated after high school. They shared time at each other's homes getting to see the sights along the front range in Colorado and the Black Hills in South Dakota. He was a quiet and gentle soul who loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared Barry's life are his daughter, Leah (Jason) Hopfinger and Jessie (Brian) Rognon; grandchildren: Joelle Glover, Gavin Glover, Ethan Rognon; his beloved dogs, Nikki, and Oliver; special friend Cheryle and one sibling.
Preceding Barry in death are his wife, Renee; and parents Quentin and Mary Jane Idler.
