I worked with Barry at TCC for the past 5.5 years. Barry's students were incredibly important to him. And he was a true empathetic, which serves the role of Academic Advisor well. He shared many heartfelt stories with me about his students through the years. But the most important thing to Barry was his family. He adored them, and it was evident in every conversation he had about them. He is already missed tremendously. His impact has been felt, and his passion for students is a legacy that we should all aspire to. Thinking of and praying for his family.

Barry was a one-of-a-kind. His smile contagiously affected everyone around TCC West Campus. He cared for EVERYONE! He passed around beautiful stones for us to use as worry stones, and his office was like a Zen room. He touched everyone so beautifully, so much so that when I went on vacation, I brought him a nice rock that I specifically chose for him out of Loch Ness. He is already missed.

Kathy and family,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Barry was my academic advisor at TCC for the last three years, and I always looked forward to our meetings. He consistently had a warm smile and took time to talk about life, even when he was running behind schedule.
When I received the news from TCC that he had passed, I was deeply saddened. Barry´s kindness and light touched so many, and he will be greatly missed.

Barry was one of the best. One of my favorite things about Barry is he was always connecting with people about anything and everything. I shared a recipe with Barry when I first met himn 5.5 years ago and he always made sure to bring up the recipe with me and talk about how happy he was that I shared the recipe with him even 5 years later.
He was a great academic advisor and truly cared for his students and his teammates. We will miss him dearly at TCC.

I had the privilege of working with Barry for the past five and a half years. Barry was one of the kindest, most wonderful people I have ever known. It was evident in his professional life as well as his personal life that Barry cared for people. He was the kind of guy that would do anything to help anyone. He worked tirelessly for his students and always went above and beyond to make sure that his students were taken care of.
The last conversation I had with Barry was about family. He loved to talk about his kids and grandkids and all the amazing things they were accomplishing. Through his words and actions, it is clear that Barry loved his family unconditionally. Barry always encouraged me to cherish the time I have with my kids while they are young. He talked about how quickly the time goes by and that before you know it, they are grown and having kids of their own. This is how I want to remember Barry, as the kind, gentle, loving family man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a good man and I'm going to miss him.
My deepest condolences to all of Barry's friends and family. I hope that you can find peace and comfort in this difficult time. And to Kathy and all of Barry's family: thank you for sharing Barry with us; it truly was a privilege to know him. RIP, Barry.

Kathy and family,
My heart is still heavy with the thought of your loss. Barry was an exceptional example of a friend to me all those years ago, and I´m so thankful for the interactions we shared via messaging during these most recent times. Before having read any of the memories from TCC students, I already anticipated what they would all reflect: He touched lives. This was true everywhere he went, but what a perfect job he was in at the last. During one of our exchanges in 2023, he paraphrased John Wesley in saying, "The world is my parish." I will always be in awe of how thoroughly he carried that out.

Kathy and Family,
We are so very sorry to hear about Barry's passing. You all will be in our thoughts and prayers. I will always remember our Bible study group that Barry and Dick Young led when we were young and attending Lodge Church of God. I always appreciated the spiritual guidance given and our friendship with you both. We love you!

Barry was my advisor at TCC and helped me through so much during my first semester. If I had any questions or needed help I knew exactly who to go to. He was supportive, kind, and always had my best interest at heart. He always told me how good I was doing and that I was going to be successful. So sad to hear about his passing but will always be thankful for him and everything he did for me.

Barry was my academic advisor at TCC and while I didn't know him personally I was able to meet with him to discuss class options for this Spring Semester. He was so helpful and took the extra steps to weigh out the different options I had. He was patient , kind and very supportive. This semester I was worried about finding an advisor that would meet these needs and questions of mine. Leaving the zoom call I felt so grateful for him, for his kindness.

Barry was my academic advisor at Tulsa Community College and my mother in laws neighbor. Barry made a huge impact on my life. I went through stage 3 colon cancer and he was my biggest advocate and supporter for me mentally. He would check in on me at all times and pray for me. We would even pray together. We´d spend time together playing with legos in his office just venting and he made me believe I could continue college while going through cancer and having 2 little kids to raise. He was the best person ever! This breaks my heart and saddens me and I feel for his wife and family. He was more than a great human being. He was exceptional. I´m broken now not knowing what I´m going to do to finish college without him. Barry was the best adviser I ever had and the only person who was genuine, honest and kind to me. My heart breaks.... I will push harder and get that diploma for Barry! I will never forget him. He was my college dad I called him. Forever a goose!!!!!

I was so sorry to hear of Barry´s passing yesterday. He was such a help to me as I readjusted to civilian life and started taking classes at TCC. For someone who didn´t get advising help at my previous four year institutions, it was wonderful to sit down with Barry for thirty minutes at a time and get all my questions answered. We also always talked about the American history books we were reading, which is something I´ll always remember! Thank you for all you did for your students, Barry. I´ll be saying prayers for your family
