Barry Glenn Markham
Barry Glenn Markham, 81, passed away Saturday August 9, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. He was born on April 16, 1944, to Boyce Glenn Markham and Josephine Winford Markham in a farmhouse in Palmer, Texas.
He grew up in Palmer where he spent many days enjoying life in the country, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He graduated from Palmer High School where he was one of six graduates. After high school, he joined the Air Force where was stationed in Alaska and later Moses Lake Washington.
After his service he moved to Texas and started working for AT&T and eventually Southwestern Bell in Beaumont. After he retired, he spent many days enjoying life, hunting, fishing, and playing golf.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Trudee Swain Markham; and their children, Therese Markham, Joe Markham and fiancée Amy Elswick, Boyce Markham and wife Jessica, Tina Woodard and husband Heath, Cara Westbury and husband Ryan from his previous marriage with Glenda Cable.
Barry is also survived by his sister, Cindy French; his brothers-in-law, David Swain and wife Brenda, Curtis Swain, Patrick Swain and wife Donna; sister-in-law Patty Markham; along with grandchildren, Allen Hogan and wife Melinda, McKenzie Westbury, Madelyn Westbury, Miranda Markham and Wyatt Markham; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Boyce and Josephine Markham; his brother, Randy Markham; his in-laws David and Trudeen Swain; his sister-in-law Therese (Teri) Swain; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A gathering of Mr. Markham's family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Broussard's 505 North 12 Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 15, 2025, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
