Mr. Barry F. Mizell, age 59, of Axson, Ga. passed away Sunday, January 05, 2025, at his home in Axson, Ga.
Born August 28, l965, in Coffee County, Mr. Mizell was the son of H. F. Mizell and Sharon Tanner Mizell. He grew up in Rex, Ga. and later moved to Jackson, Ga. before relocating to Axson, Ga, 2 years ago. He worked as a Pipefitter before retiring due to health issues and was a member of Local Union 72 in Atlanta, Ga. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, he also enjoyed his family, listening to music, football and was always a joy to be around. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of The People’s Baptist Church.
Survivors include:
Daughter: Savannah Mizell Womack and husband Jeremy of McDonough, Ga.
Son: Hampton F. Mizell and wife Amanda of Covington, Ga.
Mother: Sharon Tanner Mizell of Pearson, Ga.
Father: H.F. Mizell and wife Delores of Axson, Ga.
Brother: Brian Mizell and wife Tammy of Milledgeville, Ga.
3 grandchildren: Harley Nash Womack, Miles Tanner Mizell, and Aria Hendrix
Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Mizell were held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Sweetwater Cemetery in Pearson, Ga. with Rev. Edward Mathews and Rev. Lavon Womack officiating. Special musical selections included “Lead Me Home”, “Where Rainbows Never Die” and “Amazing Grace” played by CD. The interment followed in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were Hampton Mizell, Jeremy Womack. Chase Taylor, Kyle Kersey, Anthony Williams and Justin McClellan.
Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
