Barry Publicover, age 61, of Erie, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at LECOM Senior Living Center after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma, he ultimately lost the fight.
He was diagnosed in April with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer right after his final family trip to the Outer Banks.
Barry was born in Erie, PA on February 28, 1962, a son to the late Harris and Dolores (Dehaven) Publicover.
He graduated from East High School then went on to attend Penn State University. Barry worked as an Electrical Engineer at GE for many years and then at Wabtec. Finishing his career as a Program Manager for the Energy Storage Division.
Barry enjoyed golfing, building rockets, working on cars, watching football, especially the Steelers, and anything construction. He always enjoyed watching his kids sporting events and most recently liked to watch Nick's water polo games and timing his swim meets. He most of all loved time spent with his family and his dogs, Theo and Gracie. He especially liked his family trips to the Outer Banks every year and his work trips to China. Barry was very proud of his accomplishment in helping create the Tower of Terror at Disney in Florida. Most people that knew him would never be surprised to find him pulled over lending a hand, some money, or food to the homeless.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harris Publicover; a sister, Julia Bliley; a niece, Laurel Bliley; and a nephew, David Bliley.
Barry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Carrie Publicover; two sons, Kyle and Nick; two daughters, Julie and Alexandria; two brothers, John (Barbara) and Richard Publicover; brother and sister in laws, Gary and Christine Chrostowski, and Chris and Janet Chrostowski; three grandchildren, Gianna, Tillian, and Meliodas. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at LECOM Senior Living Center who he gave energy to; Sepia, Kayla, Kelly, Marie, Brenda, and Michelle. Also a special thank you to the Physical Therapist Team. While at LECOM, Barry met Larry Schneider and the two of them grew a very strong friendship.
Private arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral Home, West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St., Erie.
Memorials may be made to the Cleveland Clinic/ Philanthropic Institute, in regards to the Taussig Cancer Center, PO Box 931517, Cleveland, OH 44193 or to the homeless shelter of one's choice.
