Carewell CremationsIn Loving Memory of Barry Alan Schneiderman
November 18, 1947 – November 11, 2025
Barry Alan Schneiderman, of Clifton, Virginia, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, mentor, distinguished immigration attorney and a lifelong lover of music. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
Born November 18, 1947, in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Sarah and David, Barry was the youngest of four children. He was predeceased by his beloved parents and sister, Carole and brother, Richard. Barry loved sports and music and made lasting friendships through both.
A graduate of Rutgers University (1969) and The George Washington University Law School (1972), Barry dedicated nearly five decades to the practice of law and the pursuit of justice. From 1973 to 1976, he served as an Attorney Adviser to the Board of Immigration Appeals at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he began what would become a lifelong commitment to fairness, integrity and compassion in the immigration field.
In 1974, Barry met and fell in love with Janice Blyler. They married soon after and settled in Clifton, Virginia, to start their family. There, Barry was an active part of his community, pitching and playing infield on the Clifton softball team known as the Semanons, organizing town events, and advising the town historical committee. He and his family enjoyed countless summers with friends in Kennebunkport, Maine, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
In 1976, Barry entered private practice in Fairfax, Virginia, where he became a respected and trusted advocate for countless individuals and families. He was a founding and senior partner of Kincheloe & Schneiderman, and later Of Counsel at Immigration Law Plus. Barry built a legacy defined not only by his legal expertise but also by his generosity of spirit and mentorship to younger attorneys. Barry’s colleagues remember him for his keen intellect, calm demeanor, humility and steadfast kindness. His clients remember him as a tireless defender who treated every case — and every person — with dignity. To those fortunate enough to work beside him, Barry was more than a lawyer; he was a teacher, a friend, and an example of what it means to serve with both heart and principle.
He was an adoring father and is survived by his family: devoted wife of over fifty years, Janice; his son, Justin; his daughters, Robyn (William) and Caitlin; his adored grandson, Liam; his sister Judith, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews as well as the many friends, neighbors, colleagues, and clients whose lives he touched. Barry was a man with a boundless generosity of spirit, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A private graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025. A celebration of his bountiful and love-filled life will take place the next day, Friday, December 5, starting at noon, at Trummer's restaurant in Clifton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Barry’s honor to Kids in Need of Defense: supportkind.org
