Robert J. Nota, 75, left this world on November 20, 2025, following a short illness.
Born in Perth Amboy, NJ on May 25, 1950, Bob was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Bernotski) Nota. Bob had been employed as an Industrial Engineer at Johns Manville in NJ and later at IBM in Poughkeepsie.
Bob earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky and a Master's Degree from Rutgers University.
Bob was at Woodstock in 1969, drove across country in 1971 in his Ford Econoline complete with a shag rug and bamboo curtains, and was tear gassed at the March on Washington against the Vietnam War in 1971. He enjoyed classic horror movies, loved music, and attended many rock concerts in the 60s and 70s. When you met Bob you felt that you knew him forever. He was an all-around nice guy.
On January 16, 1974, Bob married Kim (Etzold) who survives at home with their dog, Shorty. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and wife, Edmund Etzold (Tricia); 4 nephews and their wives; and 7 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Robert's family respectfully requests memorial donations to The Hyde Park Food Pantry, PO Box 171, Hyde Park, NY 12538. (www.hpfoodpantry.org).
