Barry Robert Sculthorpe of North Hutchinson Island, Florida died December 11, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic in Vero Beach, Florida after suffering from a very aggressive form of cancer for three weeks.

He was born on April 5, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey to Walter and Gladys (Ferguson) Sculthorpe. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen (Stimmler) and his children Alisa Inglett (Brian) of Southport, North Carolina, Brian Sculthorpe (Amanda) of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Julie Lewis (Nathan) of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, and six grandchildren, Emilie and Kaitlyn Inglett, Grace and Charlotte Sculthorpe and Kyle and Kaylee Lewis.

He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran serving on the U.S.S. Grand Canyon, U.S.S. Long Beach and is a proud plank owner of the U.S.S. Nimitz.

He graduated from North Miami High School and Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He retired in 2013 from Florida Power and Light Company after 34 years, specializing in Predictive Maintenance. He was involved in the construction of the nuclear reactors on the Nimitz and the two Florida Power and Light reactors on Hutchinson Island. After retirement he enjoyed traveling the world with Kathleen, visiting over 50 countries and 40 states.

He was a devoted, loyal man of extraordinary integrity.

Per his wishes there will not be a formal service. If you desire, a contribution to the American Cancer Society or a Veterans organization would be appreciated.
