Margaret Emma Lomax Sculthorpe, 83, fondly known as “Peggy” by many, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was born in Monmouth County, NJ on December 14, 1941 to the late Henry J. “Harry” Lomax and Sarah Beulah Tilton Lomax and was the wife of 58 years to the late Richard William Sculthorpe.
Peggy graduated from Jersey City Nursing School in Jersey City, NJ after high school and worked as a registered nurse for many years in New Jersey. Later she enjoyed helping her son, Michael at his restaurant, Mike’s Deli, now in Burlington, NC. She loved her family very much and enjoyed cooking for them and making holidays and birthdays extra special. Peggy enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and sharing her faith in Jesus with others.
Survivors include her son, Michael Joseph Sculthorpe and wife Susan; daughters, Karyn S. Franks and husband Jonathan, Patricia Murdock and husband Ronald; grandchildren, Abigail Capps (Austin), Jonathan Murdock (Hannah), Sarah Williams (Brian), Daniel Murdock (Natalie); great granddaughters, Selah Williams, Phoebe Williams, Violet Williams, Mercy Williams, Chloe Capps; great grandsons, Jon Austin Capps and James Murdock and a brother, H. Joseph Lomax (Norma). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a grandson, Jared William Franks.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Brian Hill with the burial to follow at Berea Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Collective (Hospice) of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
