Eleonore S. Dunn, 80, of Burlington, passed away on November 20, 2025 surrounded by her children. Born on June 3, 1945, in Germany, Eleonore's journey to the United States began when she met the love of her life, Harold Thomas Dunn, Sr. during his military service overseas. Their marriage in 1966 marked the start of a beautiful partnership that lasted until Harold's passing in 2009.
Eleonore was known for her immense strength and strong-willed nature, qualities that not only defined her character but also endeared her to countless clients at her salon in Elon, Eleonore’s Hair Design. She served the community with love and dedication, being regarded as more than just a hairstylist; she was a confidante and friend.
Eleonore is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Bobby) Johnson and Frances (Scott) Montgomery; her son, Harold Dunn, Jr.; her grandchildren, Wade, Craig, Freddie, Ryan, Mason, Haylee, and Eli; and her great-grandchildren, Parker, Anni, Miller, Kai, and Greyson. Eleonore is also survived by her siblings, Karl Schröder and Barbara Städler, and her dear friend, Linda Kinney.
Eleonore was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold Thomas Dunn, Sr., her mother, Eleonora Schröder, and her brother, Willie Schröder.
A private graveside service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Moses Cone Hospital, 6 East, for their care and dedication to Eleonore this past year. Their kindness and compassion will be remembered fondly.
