What a Great Man Barry was, He knew how to put a smile on my face. I meet him when I lived in Birmingham, Mi in the Late 80's. We chatted at least once every year. Today is his Birthday as I went to wish him a Happy Birthday on Facebook I notice something wrong there have been no updated post of his loving family that he talked about.
So I did a google search and found out that he passed away. Today I'm very happy to have met him and very sad to know that such a great person has left us.
Barry, Thank you for being my friend without judgment. You are one of the best.

I was so stunned to hear of Barry's passing. I just finished a couple of new radio commercials with him last week. We've worked together for years and he was always very accommodating and helpful not to mention one of the nicest guys I know. He will be greatly missed. The service today was beautiful. Barry and his family will be in our prayers.

Yesterday, I learned that the man who hired me for my first real job passed away. Barry Zate was only 11 years older than me, and his daughter is the same age as mine.
I remember going to work for Barry and his brother, Ron Zate, when I was still in high school. Their odd combination of silly and dark humor in equal measure made my time at Liberty Hill Corporation exceptional. Indeed, when I first saw the sad news about Barry, I had a fleeting suspicion that it was a Huck Finn-style prank. Barry might have enjoyed that.
I will miss Barry, as I'm sure many others will. As an entrepreneur, as a voice artist, as a husband, as a father, and especially as a friend, he was special.

I worked with Barry in Detroit radio in th 90's and he was always a class act and very funny too. We recently became friends on Facebook and it was wonderful to see him as a Father. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
