Bartholomew Mullen Obituary

Lowell

Bartholomew Everett Mullen, Jr., age 86 died peacefully in his home on Thursday, December 15, 2022, after a period of declining health. He was the loving husband of Pauline Marie (Perreault) Mullen for 53 years.

Called Everett or Bart, depending on how you knew him, he was born in Lowell on November 19, 1936, to the late Sarah Rebecca (Fawcett) Mullen and Bartholomew Everett Mullen, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Lowell, spent 30 summers in Rochester, NH at Baxter Lake, and enjoyed many years snow birding with Pauline in Hudson, FL, beginning in the early 2000s. Everett was a communicant of St. Rita's Parish in Lowell as well as a daily attendee of the St. Rita's noon-time, Friends of Bill W. meeting.

Everett was a veteran of the U.S. Army, was drafted and served as a Private First Class from 1959 to 1962. Prior to retirement, Everett worked for the Lowell School Department for many years as a custodian at Lowell High School. He enjoyed golfing, camping, fly-fishing, and singing, including karaoke. He was a talented whistler and harmonica player and shared his humor and one-line jokes with anyone willing to listen (or not). He loved life, especially time spent around friends and family. Proud of having 46 years of sobriety, he sponsored and helped many others to get and stay sober.

In addition to his loving wife, Pauline, he is survived by his daughter Kathleen Mullen and her partner Timothy Evans of Lowell, MA; and daughter Eileen (Mullen) Deres of Douglas, MA. Called Papa by his grandchildren, Colin and Peter Deres, of Douglas, MA; and Kristen (Higgins) Corcoran and her husband Ryan of Warren, RI. He leaves his sister, Val Leahy of N. Chelmsford, MA and Paul Mullen and his wife, Maureen, of Pebble Beach, FL. In-laws, Norman Perreault, Gary and Marie Hunt of New Port Richey, FL and Denise and Michael Maloney of Avon, CT. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements will be announced at a later date.

The family requests kindly that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association®.
