Bartolo Herrera Pérez, age 68, of Albany, Oregon, passed away peacefully in his home on July 31, 2024. He was the middle child of ten siblings, born on August 24, 1955, in León, Guanajuato, to Florentino Herrera and Julia Perez.
He worked in agriculture throughout his life, both in León and in the Willamette Valley. In León, he worked on his family farm planting vegetables. In the Willamette Valley, he spent nearly 30 years managing Christmas tree farms. In his most recent years, he tended to forested areas with his brother Thomas. His loved ones and co-workers remember him as an incredibly hard worker and a natural leader who sparked joy amidst the simplest or most daunting tasks.
He had an infectious laugh and a familiar sense of humor, often making friends in unexpected situations. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, collecting rocks, and relaxing with family. He was kind, loving, caring, and the best papa to his many grandkids. He was loved very much by so many people and will be missed dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Florentino Herrera; his mother, Julia Perez; his sister, Jovita Herrera; his daughter, Anna Herrera; his son, Bartholomew Train; and his stepson, Ricky Herrera.
He is survived by his life partner and best friend, Shawna Reilly; his children, Esperanza Herrera, Elisa Herrera, Autumn Train, Arthur Train, and Aleita Train; his stepchildren, Andrew Train, Anthony Train, Cora Herrera-Limerick, Micaela Herrera, and Reina Herrera; his siblings, Juan Jose Herrera, Andrea Herrera, Balbina Herrera, Manuel Herrera, Florentino Herrera, Isidro Herrera, Tomas Herrera, Eusebio Herrera, and Juan Manuel Herrera; and numerous grandchildren.
Service will be held at Grace Point Church, 210 Clover Ridge Rd NE Albany on August 17th at 1:00 for anyone who would like to attend.
