Bruce W. Stevens of
Scio, Oregon passed away at The Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. The son of Clyde and Ruth (Mahan) Stevens, he was born in
Ironton, Ohio.
He was married to Lori Stevens on May 20, 2011 in Arroyo Grande, California.
Bruce and his family moved to California when he was 5 years old. One of his favorite memories of his childhood was getting to go back to Kentucky to visit his family and get to work on the family farm.
Bruce was a talented builder both personally and professionally. He finished off his career as a General Superintendent for Hamilton Construction in California. They specialize in building and renovating hospitals and universities.
He took great pride in all that he was involved with. His family was his greatest source of joy. He loved being a Grandpa and sharing as much time as he could with his grandchildren both in California and Oregon.
He impacted many through coaching baseball, teaching work skills, showing others patience and kindness through his actions because he was always willing to offer a helping hand. He enjoyed any project that could be incorporated into a learning experience, whether he was giving or receiving.
Bruce loved to take road trips either by car or his RV and by spending time in nature. He would make sure to stop at any waterfall on the roads he traveled. He always took time to point out the clouds, a beautiful sunset or sunrise and any rainbow that he came across.
Bruce retired to
Scio, Oregon with his wife, Lori and enjoyed some of the best days of his life in God's country with family and a community that welcomed him with open arms and that is something he embraced wholeheartedly.
He is survived by his wife, Lori; son, Matthew (Melody) Stevens; stepsons, Ryan (Erin) Barragar; Brad (Kayla) Barragar; father, Clyde Stevens; brothers, Rick (Colleen) Stevens; Johnny (Pat) Stevens; sister, Brenda Stevens;
grandchildren, Sloane, Jack, Chloe, Joey, Kenny, Dominic and Sarah. So many neices and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Stevens Brown.

The Mario Pastega House is a beautiful home like facility where families can stay on the hospital campus (for a very nominal fee) to be close to their loved ones when they are in the hospital. Bruce received excellent care in the oncology suite at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. This is our way of paying it forward.
