Barton Owens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pope Funeral Home - Winnsboro on Feb. 19, 2026.
With deep sadness and heavy hearts, we share that Barton Theus Owens "Bart", of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on February 17, 2026. Though his time on earth ended far too soon, Bart is now safely home with his Lord and reunited with loved ones who went before him. His faith was not just something he believed - it was something he lived. It shaped his character, guided his decisions, and was reflected in the gentleness, kindness, and steady love he showed to everyone around him.

Bart was the devoted husband of Ashley McSwain Owens, his best friend and constant companion. Their marriage was built on love, trust, and a shared faith that grounded their family. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the values that came from putting God at the center of their lives.

He was the proud father of Ross (12) and Wyatt (8), and he poured his heart into raising his boys. Bart lived out his faith through action - showing patience, offering encouragement, and modeling what it meant to be a compassionate and faithful father. Whether he was coaching, cheering from the stands, or simply spending time with them, he made sure his
boys always knew they were deeply loved.

Bart also carried his strong work ethic and joyful spirit into his career. He spent 16+ years with his BSN family, where he served as Regional Sales Manager. Bart woke up each day truly excited to go to work - not just because he loved what he did, but because of the people he worked alongside. He cherished the relationships he built, led with humility, and was known for his positivity, encouragement, and genuine care for others.

Baseball became one of the great joys of Bart's life. As Ross and Wyatt grew, weekends were often spent traveling to tournaments, coaching, and being right there with them every step of the way. The MAVZ organization and the wider baseball community became an extended family to Bart. His presence, leadership, and the way he poured into every child
he coached left a lasting impact on countless families. To know Bart in the baseball world was to know someone who showed integrity, sportsmanship, and heart - all reflections of the faith he carried quietly but powerfully.

Fall Saturdays brought out another passion: cheering on his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks. He was an avid USC fan, and many of his happiest days were spent gathered with family and friends, enjoying food, fellowship, and Gamecock pride.

Bart is preceded in death by his mother, Rhonda Theus Owens, whom he loved dearly. Knowing he is reunited with her in Heaven brings comfort and peace to his loved ones.

He is survived by his father, Michael Edward Owens, and his brothers, Derek and Jay, who will forever remember Bart's loyalty, kindness, and the steady faith that shaped his life. Bart is also survived by numerous nephews, a niece, cousins, and an aunt, all of whom loved him deeply and will carry his memory close to their hearts.

Bart's passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and community. Yet his legacy lives on - through the love he gave so freely, the boys he raised with devotion, the relationships he nurtured, and the quiet strength of his faith that touched so many.
A celebration of Bart's life will be held on March 8, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Horeb Church, Lexington, SC, 1205 Old Cherokee Rd, Lexington, SC 29072. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the Owens residence.
