Abbie Wilson Skipper

Abbie Wilson Skipper, age 91, formerly of Winnsboro and Florence, SC, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. Born in Winnsboro May 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Eddie Samuel and Nellie Gardner Wilson. She and her late husband, William H. "Sonny" Skipper, Sr., were owners of the 76 Superette in Florence, SC, and Skipper's Grocery in Timmonsville, SC.

She is survived by her sons, William H. "Bill" Skipper, Jr., Steven W. "Steve" Skipper (Eva), and James A. "Jim" Skipper (Julie); a sister, Mary W. Nickas; and eight grandchildren, Demitra "Demi" Skipper (Bobby), Georgia Cassidy (Kenny), William H. "Will" Skipper III, Erin Skipper (Daniel Batdorf), Jeremy Skipper, Rachel Skipper (Shane Pullins), Sarah (Corey) Andon, and Emily (Alex) Gambill.

In addition to her parents and husband, Abbie was predeceased by one brother, Alfred Wilson, and three sisters, Dorothy Branham, Myria Williams, and Frances Gunter.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Royal Pines Memorial Cemetery, 9th Street, Winnsboro, SC, conducted by Reverand Doug Blaikie. A reception will be held after the service at the home of Eddie and Norma Branham, 4536 Newberry Rd, Winnsboro, SC.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Greens at Hendersonville (Hendersonville, NC), Hospice of the Carolina Foothills (NC), Anthem Lakes (Jacksonville, FL), and Haven Hospice (Jacksonville, FL) for their compassionate love and care for Abbie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Abbie's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Attn: SC Gift Processing 4600 Park Road, Ste 250 Charlotte, NC 28209, or a charity of one's choice.
