BearStarfire McQuinn Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Funeral Care on Dec. 8, 2025.
BearStarfire McQuinn, 56, of Florence, KY, passed away on December 3, 2025. She was born on September 14, 1969.
BearStarfire lived a life deeply rooted in pride, tradition, and service. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret McQuinn, and her grandmother, Leah Spurgeon-two women whose influence shaped her spirit and her dedication to community.
She was passionately committed to her Native American heritage and carried her lineage with honor. A talented jingle dancer, she not only performed the dance but lovingly taught its meaning and traditions to others, ensuring its legacy continued through future generations. She was an honorary member of All Nations, embracing and supporting Native communities beyond the four tribes she descended from.
Her devotion to veterans-especially Native American veterans-was a central part of her life. She advocated tirelessly for their needs and showed unwavering gratitude for their service. Her commitment to helping others began early; even in high school she assisted with traffic control for her community, taking pride in creating a safer environment for those around her.
BearStarfire was also a gifted artist, expressing herself through drawing and knitting. Her creativity reflected her deep cultural connection and her generous heart. She touched countless lives through her guidance, her traditions, and her compassionate spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Tyson Frysinger.
A celebration of BearStarfire's life will be held on January 3 at 2:00 PM at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 2690 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, KY 41017.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Lakeside Presbyterian Church in her honor. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of BearStarfire, please visit our Tree Store.
