Cremation will take place and a memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Huntington Run Clubhouse, 6255 Cranbrook Ln., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, c/o the funeral home.
Age 85, passed away on February 24, 2024, at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on July 25, 1938, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Gertrude (VanderRoost) Oorbeck. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and remained a life long resident of the area. On February 13, 1954, she married the love of her life James M. DeLoof who preceded her in passing in 1979. She never remarried. Together they raised a family and became involved in the community around them. Beatrice was a hard worker who was employed in the banking industry for many years. When not working she enjoyed watching the Detroit Tiger's and NASCAR. Later in life she enjoyed taking trips to the casino, reading, and traveling with her sister. Above all Beatrice loved her family and her friends and she will be missed by those who knew her. She is survived by two children, Douglas (Cynthia) DeLoof, Debra (Marc) Bertholet; grandchildren, Danielle (Hayden) Sherman, Amber (Drew) Hagen, Brandon (Katelyn) DeLoof; great-grandchildren; a sister, Jean Kiel; special nieces, nephews and extended family. She was also preceded in passing by a brother, Thomas Oorbeck.
