Richard "Dick" DeLoof passed away on February 26, 2025 in his hometown of Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 83. Born on January 23, 1942, to Julius and Alice (Baluk) DeLoof, Dick grew up in Okemos, MI. It was at Resurrection High School that he met the love of his life, Rosemarie (Pung) DeLoof, who would become his wife of 62 years.
Dick spent most of his adult life working at the Lansing Fisher Body Plant, but his true passions were always his faith, family, and friends. His faith was a constant guiding force throughout his life, and he devoted many decades to serving at St. Gerard Catholic Church and later at St. Therese Catholic Church. He volunteered with the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry, was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Richard Council, and was also a member of the Michigan Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1039.
Outside of his church and work life, Dick was an avid fisherman, known for his impressive ability to filet fish. He spent countless weekends, and later his retirement, at the family lake house in Ludington, MI, creating lasting memories with Rose, their children, and numerous family and friends who visited.
Dick was also a devoted family man who spent many weekends camping in Michigan and out West. Later in life, Dick and Rose enjoyed their time in Ludington at the lake house, surrounded by family and friends. An enthusiastic golfer, Dick participated in golf leagues and enjoyed playing for pleasure with his wife, children, and friends.
His family, especially his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, cherish the many stories of his great sense of humor and quirky personality. Dick was known for being the family's cameraman and videographer, capturing birthday parties and holiday events with his signature comedic flair.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Rose DeLoof, and their three daughters: Debbie (Jim) Crawford, Becky (Tim) Hulbert, and Donna (Howard) Casey; nine grandchildren: Rachel, Melanie, Josh, Matt, Samantha, Lauren, Curtiss, Sarah, and Ashley; 11 great-grandchildren: Jenny, Max, Lucas, Mavis, David, Oliver, Valerie, Zander, Levi, Kinzey, and Annette; his brother, Don (Fran) DeLoof; his brother-in-law, Ken (Linda) Pung; sisters-in-law, Karen Parker and Kathy Gromilovitz; as well as many nieces, nephews, and special family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Alice (Baluk) DeLoof; his father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Romilda (Weiber) Pung; his sister Mary (Al) Billings; his brothers-in-law, Joe (Kathy) Pung and Bill (Karen) Parker; and his sister-in-law, Joanne (Pung) Hills.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday March 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 102 W. Randolph St., Lansing, MI 48906, with Father John Fain as celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass, beginning at 10:00 am. For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry at St. Therese Parish.
