Beatrice Jeter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Labby Memorial Funeral Home - Leesville on Jul. 4, 2025.
It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Beatrice Murphy Jeter, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and devoted educator, who left this world peacefully on July 2, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on January 8, 1929, in Boyce, Louisiana, Beatrice lived a life rich in love, service, and dedication to her family and community.
Beatrice was the cherished daughter of Garner "Buck" Murphy and Edna Rae, who instilled in her the values of hard work and compassion. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Odell "D" Jeter, with whom she shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring love story remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
A passionate and hardworking educator, Beatrice dedicated her life to teaching and shaping young minds. Her love for education was matched only by her enthusiasm for coaching softball in her early years. She found joy in guiding her students and instilling in them the same love for learning that she cherished. Beatrice was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Alexandria, Louisiana, having been part of the congregation since she was just 13 years old. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she embraced her church community with open arms.
Beatrice's spirit was not confined to the classroom or church. She adored the outdoors, spending her time camping and traveling, which allowed her to explore and appreciate the natural beauty. Her zest for life was infectious, and she shared countless adventures with her family, creating cherished memories that will last for generations to come.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Velvet N. Jeter (William) of Woodworth, Louisiana, and her son, Kenneth O. Jeter of Alexandria, Louisiana. Beatrice's legacy continues through her grandchildren, Patrick Brown, Terry Brown, Kristi Jeter, and Kendal O. Jeter, as well as her five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy and pride.
Beatrice Murphy Jeter will be remembered not only for her contributions as an educator but also for the warmth, love, and kindness she extended to all those around her. She touched many lives, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of Beatrice's life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Labby Memorial Chapel at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor her remarkable legacy and to share their stories and memories of a truly extraordinary woman. Interment will follow at Flactor Baptist Church Cemetery in Hick, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Labby Memorial Chapel in Leesville, Louisiana, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Bea was an incredible woman. (I called her Jeter). She loved to send and receive cards. Her favorites always included flowers. At the end of our visits, she always said "Tell the people at church that I love them." She was full of love for her family, her Church, and her God.
