Miss Loehrlein, as I knew her, was my sixth grade teacher at St Boniface. On the first day a class that year she had placed a book on each student´s desk. A book she felt was an indication of that student´s potential path in life. My book was "A Report From Engine Company 84". It was about a fire company in NYC. She was very close as I chose a career as a first responder. Even at my young age I thought she had really thought about who I was and my potential. I still have that book. No other teacher made a connection with me like she did.
