Lumberton, NC - Mrs. Becky Ann Sims Wright, age 69, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at UNC Health-Lumberton.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, officiated by Brent Taylor. Burial will follow at the Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC. The family will greet friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born on February 5, 1956, in Monroe, NC, Mrs. Wright was the daughter of the late Herman and Willie Faye Mullis Sims. She grew up attending the family's home church, Lighthouse Baptist Church of Pageland and dedicated her working life to retail sales. Mrs. Wright enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing bingo, and watching crime shows such as "Cops" and "Rescue 911." A loving mother, grandmother, and the queen of biscuit making, she cherished the titles of “Shuggy” and “Grandma” that was given to her by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Wright; her brothers Bud and Charles Sims; her sisters Martha Lynne and Frances Kay Sims; her step-father Michael Bruce Freeman; and her brother-in-law Randy Wright.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her children: Ginger (Stewart) Jones, and Christina (Damien) Jones both of Lumberton, NC, and Twyla (Leon) Chavis, of Siler City, NC; her granddaughter by birth but daughter by heart, Rebecca Celeste (Josh) Ellis of Heath Springs, SC; three grandsons, Dante Thomas Jones, Caleb Sebastian Moree, and Joseph DaKota Chavis; two granddaughters, Jazmine Noel Chavis and Daelyn Li’Cell Jones; and two great-grandchildren, Braylee Alayna Ellis and Colt Taylor Ellis. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Michael Sims of Hartsville, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David & Patricia Wright of Kershaw, SC, Jimmy Wright, Wayne “Buddy” Wright, Judy (Chris) Woodward, and Viola Sims all of Pageland, SC; and Don & Amy Wright of Greenville, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
