Belen Andal Limbo
February 22, 1939 July 4, 2024
Our beloved mother Belen Andal Limbo, passed peacefully in her care home in Antioch, CA at the age of 85. The eldest of five children and daughter of Juan and Josefa Andal, Belen was born in a small town of Ibabao, Cuenca, Batangas during the dawn of the Japanese occupation of the Philippines prior to the second World War. The austere conditions that she and her family endured made an indelible influence in her development, acquiring the traits of responsibility, cultivating earnest work habits, and learning survival skills in preparation for a difficult and arduous life ahead.
After just two and a half years of marriage to Anselmo Limbo, Belen and her husband along with her two children met a fateful bus accident in November of 1964. Faced with the incredible challenges of caring for a comatose husband who later faced hemiparalysis and raising two children on her own - she forged ahead, undeterred, and determined to provide for her family. Belen succeeded earning her college degree while working full-time. Her love for her children, incredible courage, strength of character and unrelenting perseverance were fueled by her unwavering faith in God and prayer. She never missed her weekly devotion of kneeling and praying in churches seeking Gods help. Her then lofty dream for her children to attain the best opportunities led Belen to immigrate to the United States in 1972.
Sacrificing leaving her family for over three years, she settled and found accounting work in Los Angeles.
Belen is survived by her two children, Lea and Rommel, their spouses Sal and Mary Ann and her grandchildren Lauren and husband Michael, and Ryan and Alyssa, all of whom shes very proud for realizing her dream of their successes. She is a loving mother who instilled the values of family, kindness to others and always doing your best to pursue your goals and most importantly being thankful for Gods guidance and graces. Belen is also survived by her four siblings Leticia, Amado, Galianoand Edwin.
Belens kindness to family was limitless, not only caring for her aging parents, but also newly arrived members, aiding them during their first years of settlement in the US. She believed in helping with their transition to a new land. Her nieces and nephews fondly remember their Tita (Auntie) Belen as their guardian, entrusted by her cousins/parents and families to impart discipline and wisdom while they pursue their endeavors under her care.
Belens love of family and friends, her amazing resilience, boundless and focused energy and ability to take and make the best out of life without bitterness will all be missed. We are comforted in knowing her life, incredibly lived and blessed by God, ensures her place in paradise. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Belen, please visit our Tree Store.
