Belva Gibson Obituary

For over 60 years she was the proud owner of Belva's Hair Design, a place where women gathered, stories were shared and lasting friendships were made.
A lifelong advocate for women's empowerment, Belva was a staunch supporter of the Vallejo chapter of Soroptimist International, dedicating countless hours to raising funds for scholarships and championing causes that gave voice and opportunity to those who needed it most.
She was an avid sports fan who loved football, basketball and golf but was devoted to the SF Giants. She often took the ferry from Vallejo to San Francisco to enjoy a game at the stadium.
Belva is survived by many family members, her longtime caregivers and friends who will miss her lively conversations and will keep in their hearts nearly a century of stories she's shared.
In honoring her legacy, the family invites donations to the Vallejo Soroptimist organization in lieu of flowers. A gathering to commemorate Belva's life will be held on Oct 22 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at

I am so sorry to hear of Belva's passing. She had done my Mothers ( Mary Louise Curtola ) hair for over 50 years. She became a member of our family all those years. She was a wonderful person, a dedicated Vallejoan and a truly beloved individual. May she rest in Peace..

What a lady! Belva did my mom's hair for many, many years & even came to the funeral home to fix her hair when she died. It was always fun to visit the hair salon & see my mom's old friends & Belva. She was a Vallejo tradition.
