Ben Clyde Boyd, affectionately known as "Clyde", was born to the late Ben Boyd and Rosie Mae Mills Boyd on October 4, 1958, in Halifax County, North Carolina. He peacefully answered God's call to eternal rest on Friday, November 14, 2025, at ECU Health in Greenville, North Carolina.
During his early life, Ben professed faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in
Littleton, North Carolina. He later continued his Christian walk as a devoted member of the Walnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
Ben's formal education was received in the Halifax County Public School System, and he attended Northwest Halifax County High School in
Littleton, North Carolina.
Ben's strong work ethic was evident throughout his life-long service in various fields: Roanoke Valley Ice Company and Blackwell Tire Company in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, and Halifax County Schools. His deep love for cooking inspired him to establish "Big Ben's Catering Company", where he joyfully shared his Master culinary skills and served his community with pride and passion.
Ben was warm-hearted, outgoing, and possessed an endearing spirit that never met a stranger. He loved connecting with people from all walks of life, his presence was respected throughout the community, and He was also very proud to serve as a Mason with Keystone Lodge # 6,
Littleton, North Carolina.
Ben will be forever remembered for his generous spirit, welcoming personality, and the wisdom he imparted along his life's journey. He had a vision to inspire, the determination to positively touch the lives of others, and has left an indelible mark on humanity.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by one brother, Horace P. Boyd; and two sisters, Hattie Reid and Desiree Davis.
Those remaining to cherish Ben's precious memory and to hold close the warmth of his spirit are his children: Ben-Jamel Boyd of Los Angeles, CA, India Williams (Alonzo) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Lisa Nicole Hunter of Murfreesboro, NC; four grandchildren: Landon Boyd, London Boyd, Liam Boyd, and Alonzo Williams, Jr.; one brother, Claude W. Boyd (Gina) of Chattanooga, TN; five sisters: Ruby A. Boyd and Elaine D. Boyd of East Elmhurst, NY, Annie S. Young of Washington, DC, Glendolia Armwood of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Timolin Massenburg (Gary) of
Littleton, NC; another sister-in-law, Elsie P. Boyd of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who all loved him dearly.
Ben's presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy of his love, service, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service time at Robinson Funeral Home, 215 US Highway 158,
Littleton, North Carolina. Rev. Dr. Tommy Arrington will deliver the eulogy, and burial will follow in the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 127 Rock House Road,
Littleton, North Carolina.
