Ben Hordes

Ben Leonard Hordes was born in Portland, Oregon where he attended Kennedy School and Jefferson High School before serving in the Navy. Upon returning home, he continued his education at the VanPort Extension Center and Lewis & Clark College. Ben went on to become a Lieutenant with the Portland Fire Department where he served many years before retiring.
An avid outdoorsman, Ben loved hunting, fishing, boating, and golfing. He had a fondness for the coast and built a log cabin vacation home on the Long Beach Peninsula of Washington.
Ben is preceded in death by his son, Fred Burnside, and is survived by his wife, Barbara Hordes, daughter Lorna Lang, grandsons Jeremy Burnside and Brandon Burnside.
