Ben Larson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors - Midland Chapel on Jan. 4, 2026.
Ben James Larson, of Midland, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2026, at the age of 78.
Ben was born on November 24, 1947, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late Claven B. Larson and Lois I. (Sheltrown) Larson. He graduated from Handy High School in 1967. After graduating, he made his lifelong career as an assembly line worker in the brakes division at General Motors and Delphi. He married Geraldine Ann Jacobs on May 15, 1978. They had 47 wonderful years together.
Ben lived for the simple things in life. He enjoyed watching sports, playing golf, and tuning into the old westerns. He was a very jovial man, who could always be found trying to make somebody laugh by telling a joke or two. In his younger days, Ben enjoyed going out to eat and trying new restaurants. His love for children made him an exceptional father and grandfather. Ben's faith was his pillar. Taking his children to church and showing them God's love was something very important to him. There was never a dull moment when Ben was around. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ben is survived by his beloved wife, Geraldine (Jacobs) Larson; children, Shane Larson, Stewart Clark, and Jan (Rob) Steinhaus; grandchildren, Summer Clark, Austin Clark, Tyler Clark, Charlie Steinhaus, and Katherine Steinhaus; one great-grandson, Mason; brothers, Claven Larson and Steven (Margaret) Larson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claven and Lois Larson; and sister, Lois "Jenny" Larson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W Wheeler St., Midland, MI 48640. Family will greet guests from 11:00 AM until the time of service with light snacks provided.
