Ben Ligon Obituary

Ben served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and was honorably discharged. Ben was a hard-working man. For many years, he worked as a licensed air conditioning and refrigeration technician. In additiona to being a technician, he held many jobs, including jobs at Seamless Rubber Company and TRW-Geometric Tool, both in New Haven. He also worked at Sandvik Inc. in Branford, CT until he retired in 1994.
Ben enjoyed his retirement for a few years, but he missed working. He became a security guard for Securitas and worked for ACORN Management Group at 55 Church St. in New Haven, where he was fondly known as "Mr. Ben." He retired from this last job in 2010 at 81 years old.
Ben leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Lisa (Darnell) Manuel of Hamden, CT; stepson, Michael Beasley of Spotsylvania, VA; sisters, Mozell Jenny Lewis and Allie Mae Latimer of Laurens, SC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He was predeceased by five brothers, George W. Jr., Albert, David, Clarence, and Ernest; and three sisters, Cora, Clara and Mildred.
