Died: March 29, 2026
Ben William Shanks, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026 after a brief illness.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose greatest joy in life was his family. Known for his kindness, quiet strength, and generous heart, he touched the lives of many and will be remembered for the warmth and steadiness he brought to those around him.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Donna; his children: Benny (Rosie), David (Sarah), Elizabeth, and Rebecca S. York (Jon); and his cherished grandchildren; siblings, J.C. Shanks, Darrell Shanks, Shirley Barger; and several nieces and nephews.
A private military ceremony will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery to honor his service and life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in his memory.
Though he is no longer with us, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of his family forever.
