Benito J. Ayala

Benito J. Ayala, 56, of Silvis passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025 at University of Iowa Hospital.

A mass of Christian burial will be 10am Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Visitation will be 3-7pm with a rosary at 2:30pm Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge in Iowa City.

Benito was born May 21, 1969 in Silvis, IL the son of Isaias and Angela (Terronez) Ayala. He worked at Anchor Lumber in the Screen Repair and Receiving Department for 26 years. Benito loved life, his family, and countless primos. He was a volunteer at the Firecracker Run and many other races in the Quad Cities. He enjoyed attending all of the local community events, playing darts, horseshoes, dancing, and loved his dog Bubba.

Benito is survived by his companion of 30 years, Shelly Wirt; siblings Christine (Tom) Custer, G. Isaias Ayala, Alesia (Robert) Cervantes, Andrea (Larry) Handel, Angelo (Sandra) Ayala, Annadelia (Jaime) Ayala-Garcia, and Amelia (Robert) Simons. Benito is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Benito was preceded in death by his parents.
