Benjamin Banach, a devoted husband, father and veteran, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida, at the age of 79.

Born on May 7, 1946, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Benjamin was the beloved son of the late Benjamin J. Banach and Rose Migut. He was raised in South River, New Jersey, where he graduated from South River High School.

In 1969, Benjamin was drafted into the United States Army, where he served his country honorably until 1971. After his discharge, he met the love of his life, Catherine, whom he met as a blind date. Benjamin proposed to Catherine on Christmas day and went on to marry in 1975. He pursued higher education, earning a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Belmont Abbey College. Benjamin and Catherine went on to build a home in North Brunswick, New Jersey, where they would raise their family.

Benjamin began his professional life as a chemist at Carter Wallace. He returned to school mid-career to earn additional degrees in Accounting and Computer Science from Middlesex County College. He later worked as a computer programmer at Raritan Bay Medical Center and eventually served as a Clerk for the New Jersey Department of Taxation, retiring in 2016.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Benjamin was a man of many passions and commitments. He was a lifelong Scout Leader for Troop 33 in Milltown. He was also a skilled chess player and would compete in local tournaments. Benjamin was rooted in his faith. Raised at St. Mary of Ostrabrama in South River and later a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Peace in North Brunswick. One of the highlights of his later years was joining the parish trip to Israel in 2019. He had a passion for photography, a love of Atlantic City's craps tables, and a deep appreciation for music-particularly songs of the 1950s and 60s, as well as Jewish and Irish folk music.

Benjamin is predeceased by his parents Benjamin J Banach and Rose (Migut) Banach along with his sister Beverly Britton.

Benjamin is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Catherine, their children Aaron David Banach, Brian Christopher Banach with wife Katie and Jessica Malhotra with husband James. He is also survived by two loving grandchildren Gavin and Kameron.
